I'm a dad of two daughters. Like most parents, I'm always looking for ways to trade screen time for something that asks a little more of their imagination. One of my favorite things to say to my eight-year-old is simple: “Write me a made-up story. About anything.”
She loves it. No right answers, no assignment to get perfect. Just her imagination and a story that's entirely hers.
I love being creative, too. One day, I took a story she'd written and used AI to turn it into a comic book. She loved seeing her ideas come to life. It was still her story, but now it was an adventure she could see, read, and share with me.
That was the spark. If this meant so much to us, maybe other families would love it, too. ComicBug was born—not as a way to keep kids on a screen, but as a creative adventure for my daughter and me, and an invitation for other families to join us.
Their imagination. New possibilities.
Our mission is to help kids become more creative in a world of AI—not let AI do the imagining for them. The characters, the ideas, the story: those belong to the child. ComicBug is the sidekick, offering a little encouragement along the way and helping turn their writing into a comic they can be proud of.
That possibility comes with responsibility. Kids need room to explore, and parents need to know how AI is being used. That's why we're building ComicBug around age-appropriate safety checks, a private family space, and grown-up approval before a story enters the family library. No ads, no public feeds, and no pressure to keep scrolling.
We want kids to discover what they can make—not just what a machine can make for them. And we want families to enjoy that discovery together.
Every kid has a story. Let's help them bring it to life.
