Who we are

ComicBug ("we") operates the ComicBug website and service. Operator contact: [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [MAILING ADDRESS], [PRIVACY EMAIL], [PHONE].

Information from grown-ups

We collect a parent's name, email address, password (stored securely), billing details handled by our payment processor, and shipping addresses for printed books. We use this to run your account, process payments, ship books and contact you about your account.

Children's Privacy Notice

What child information we collect and why

  • Nickname, age band, preset avatar and optional pen name: to personalize the studio and books.
  • Stories, comics, drawings and picture requests the child creates: to provide the service and show work in the family library.
  • Helper conversations: to give writing prompts and run safety filters. These are not used for advertising.
  • A family-set PIN (stored as a secure hash): to let kids switch profiles.

We do not collect a child's real name, email, phone number, photo, voice, location, school or birthday, and we ask kids not to share these. We collect only what is reasonably needed for the child to take part.

How we get parental consent

Only parents or legal guardians can create an account. Before a child profile is created, the parent completes a verifiable consent step. No child information is collected before consent.

Parental rights

Parents may at any time review the information collected about their child, have it deleted, and refuse further collection or use. You can do much of this in the grown-up dashboard, or submit a privacy request. Refusing further collection will mean the child can no longer use the service.

Data retention

  • Child profiles and creations: kept while the account is active; deleted within [30] days of a deletion request or account closure.
  • Helper conversation logs: kept up to [30] days for safety review, then deleted.
  • Safety event records: category only (never the child's text), kept up to [12] months.
  • Billing and order records: kept as required by law, typically [7] years.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information and do not disclose children's information to third parties, except service providers who need it to run ComicBug and are bound to protect it:

  • Hosting and database providers
  • AI processing providers (for writing prompts, picture generation and safety filtering)
  • Payment processors
  • Printing and shipping partners (for books a parent orders)
  • Email delivery providers (parents only)

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a child.

Advertising and tracking

We show no ads and use no third-party tracking or advertising technology. See our Cookie notice.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and family-level data isolation to protect information.

Changes

If we make material changes affecting children's information, we will notify parents and seek new consent where required.
