Safety and privacy, in plain words
We built ComicBug the way we'd want it for our own kids. Here's exactly how it works.
What we collect about kids
- A nickname you choose (not their real name).
- An age band, like 6–8, so ComicBug can talk at the right level.
- A preset avatar and an optional pen name for their books.
- The stories, comics and pictures they make.
What we never collect about kids
- No email, phone number, birthday, photo, voice, address or school.
- No location tracking and no advertising IDs.
- Kids don't have accounts. You, the grown-up, are the only account holder.
Parental consent comes first
Before a kid can use ComicBug, a grown-up creates the account and gives verifiable consent. You can change or withdraw consent at any time.
You approve every episode
When your kid finishes an episode, it comes to you. Nothing goes into the family library until you say so. You can send it back with a kind note, too.
A closed family library
Published work is visible only inside your family. There are no public profiles, no comments, no messaging and no way for strangers to find your kid. Gift links for grandparents are private, show only the pen name, and can be turned off anytime.
A careful helper
ComicBug's helper asks questions and makes suggestions; it never writes the story. Every message and picture request is checked by safety filters. If a kid types something like an address or phone number, ComicBug gently reminds them to keep it private.
No ads. No trackers.
We don't show ads, we don't use ad pixels or third-party tracking scripts, and we never sell data. We use essential cookies only, to keep you signed in.
Export or delete anytime
You can download your family's work or delete a kid's profile and everything they made. To request a copy or deletion of your data, use our privacy request form.
